How it works

Three steps to care at home

No out-of-pocket cost. No paperwork you have to fight through alone. We handle the system so you can look after your child.

Initial Consultation

We talk — no cost, no obligation. We confirm your child’s eligibility for in-home private care at no out-of-pocket cost, and we handle the Medicaid paperwork. Most families are approved for funding within 30 days.

  • Free eligibility review
  • We file the paperwork
  • Funding typically within 30 days

Meet Your Care Team

Once approved, you meet the nurses who will actually be in your home — and you have a say. If you qualify, a parent can be trained, employed and paid as your child’s caregiver.

  • You meet your nurses
  • Parents may qualify as paid caregivers
  • A named care coordinator

Enjoy Our Care

Care begins on your schedule, at any hour. Approved hours are set by medical necessity under the Georgia Pediatric Program — most families are authorised for 25 to 40 hours each week.

  • Any hours, including nights
  • Typically 25–40 hours per week
  • Licensed, trained, certified

Rooted in family and service

We take on the system, so you can be a parent

Families raising a medically complex child do not only manage a diagnosis. They manage a system — specialists, equipment suppliers, pharmacies, school nurses, Medicaid caseworkers — and the coordination becomes a second full-time job on top of the caregiving.

HomeCare Roots exists to carry that weight. We obtain the funding. We build the plan. We staff it with pediatric-trained nurses who stay long enough to know your child’s baseline by heart. And we keep a clinician reachable at any hour, because complex needs do not keep office hours.

Compassionate Care

We hire for clinical skill and for warmth. Your child is a child first.

Family Centered

Care is built around your household, your routine and your goals.

Experienced Clinicians

Pediatric-trained RNs and LPNs, licensed, screened and competency-checked.

24/7 Clinical Support

A clinician answers, day or night. Not an answering service.

They handled the Medicaid paperwork we had been drowning in for months. Approved in under four weeks. I did not believe it until the letter came.

Questions, answered

What families ask us first

For families who qualify under the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP), there is no out-of-pocket cost. Care is covered by Georgia Medicaid. We complete the funding paperwork on your behalf, and most families are approved within 30 days.

Children under the age of 21 who are Georgia Medicaid members and have a documented medical need for skilled nursing — including conditions such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, paraplegia, ventilator dependence, tracheostomy, seizure disorders and complex feeding needs. If you are unsure, call us. The eligibility review is free and takes one conversation.

In many cases, yes. Georgia allows qualifying parents and guardians to be trained, employed and paid as their child’s caregiver. We walk you through the training and credentialing, and we handle the employment side. Ask us during your consultation whether your family qualifies.

Authorised hours are set by medical necessity, as documented by your child’s physician and reviewed by Georgia Medicaid — not by us. Most of the families we serve are approved for 25 to 40 hours per week. Children with higher acuity needs, such as ventilator dependence, are frequently approved for substantially more.

The pace is set by funding approval, which typically lands within 30 days of your consultation. Once approved, we introduce your care team and begin on your schedule. For urgent hospital discharges we move faster — call us and say it is a discharge.

We serve families across Georgia, with our deepest coverage in metro Atlanta — including Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett, DeKalb, Clayton, Cherokee and surrounding counties. If you are outside metro Atlanta, still call: we will tell you honestly whether we can staff your area well.
